Film Transcript

Hello, I'm Dane and I live with NPS Type 6. Now, you're probably thinking, "Oh, that sounds like a Star Wars droid." Well, you're not far off.

When I was 5 years old, doctors told my parents I may not live past my teenage years and that independence would never be a part of my life. But my life had a very different idea. There have been challenges, setbacks and assumptions along the way, but my family and I always believed that there was more to my story than a diagnosis on a piece of paper.

Today I drive my own modified car, which honestly makes me feel like Ruple on a Friday night. I've travelled overseas several times, which is pretty impressive considering I still get lost in my local shopping centre. I own a beautiful home with my fianceé, and he is someone who truly sees me and loves me for who I am.

If I can leave you with one thing, it's this: people with disabilities live, love, and connect just like anyone else when we live beyond assumptions. I hope my film leaves you feeling seen, more hope, perspective, and a greater sense of possibilities that life can give us. I'm Jane Nan, and this is what life can be.
