About this Short Film
My Ability, by Bass Coast Specialist School (Australia, 2018), is a short film that celebrates achievement and everyday skills within a school setting. Made by and with students, it highlights the talents and contributions of young people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability. The film offers a warm, respectful look at group learning, independence and friendship, and includes participants who use wheelchairs. Featured in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, My Ability fits the festival’s aim to show the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. It is uplifting, honest and a welcome addition to a program about inclusion and skill development.
