The Nest, a music for all project written by Finnegan Crookmire, illustrated by Karen Donati, music by Rachel Brewerville. The Nest was a unique creative musical project that allowed students of diverse abilities to collaborate with professional artists to collectively devise, rehearse and perform their own music. This book is about friendship and it's made by Finnegan Crookmire. We got large print umbrella made by Antonia. It is a place for going to a piece of old, a piece of new. Students engaged in a week of music making workshops with a team of teaching artists. This culminated in a public performance at the end of the week. Some of the songs are made by Rachel and some of the students learnt to play it. The first time it was a bit hard and challenging but I got through it. And even we made our own music for The Nest. Alice can you show us yours? Well it starts with this. Oh can you do it for us one more time it's beautiful. So it starts with an A like this and then you go B and D. B and D, thank you Alice. The process of The Nest, it was amazing to see all varieties of different ages working together to make a beautiful piece. It was amazing how two schools came together to make one concert. We had a big performance and my Nana had come to see us. In the performance I felt like I actually achieved something and I was happy. I was excited when we stopped playing because everyone had gave us a round of applause. I really enjoyed the finishing products, how it sounded, it sounded amazing. And working as a team was really cool. In the weeks and months leading up to the project students engaged in many rich literacy and arts based learning tasks inspired by the text. This included learning about animation and film making. I like to listen to the sound of my voice of the movie that I made. Right now there is a blue river and a blue sky and a green tree. The brown bird is flying around happily. The amount of effort that students put into their short films was amazing. Not only that but it made me want to do more short film making. I did my animation and I was really really happy with the result. Thank you. The Nest.
