About this Short Film
Finding Music (ACG Parnell College, New Zealand, 2023) is a short film presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. Made by young filmmakers, it looks at themes of deafness, sensory disability and school life through the eyes of teenagers. The film brings a group perspective to questions of communication, belonging and how sound and silence shape everyday experience. It does not shy away from the complexity of being a young person with a sensory disability, and it offers a thoughtful, human glimpse into school friendships and identity. A concise, youth-driven piece, Finding Music complements the festival's aim to celebrate the abilities and stories of people with disability.
