About this Short Film
I am not my anxiety (Garin College, New Zealand, 2022) explores experiences of anxiety and mental health in school settings. Through honest moments and group interactions, the short examines themes such as bullying, stigma, stereotypes and prejudice, and the ways teenagers cope with challenges. It does not offer simple answers, but provides a thoughtful, compassionate glimpse that aligns with the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival's aim of highlighting the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. A valuable programme entry, it invites audiences to reflect and to talk about support, understanding and inclusion.
