About this Short Film
Hume Valley School’s Wild Creatures (Australia, 2018) is a short film included in the Focus on Ability festival. Rather than offering a conventional narrative, the film attends to group life within a school and the everyday experiences of teenagers with intellectual disability. It highlights friendships, routines and creative moments without judgement, allowing the young people’s presence and personalities to come through. Presented as part of our programme, Wild Creatures brings a school-based perspective to conversations about ability, participation and community. It is a warm, human portrait that invites audiences to notice what young people can do.
