About this Short Film
The V.I.P (Visually Impaired Person) (Susan Jackson, Ireland, 2021) approaches questions of sight, support and selfhood through a focused, sensory lens. With themes of blindness, illness and medical disability, the film considers how perception and point of view shape daily life and relationships. It also raises questions about assistance and authorship without relying on easy answers. Short and intimate, this work finds power in its observations rather than in plot. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, The V.I.P offers audiences a chance to reflect on the varied experiences of people with sensory disability and to rethink assumptions about independence and care.
