About this Short Film
Te Manawa by Tauranga Girls College (New Zealand, 2022) offers a warm, observant glimpse into life at school and the friendships that form there. Through everyday moments and group interaction, the short film explores inclusion, the presence of intellectual disability and the realities faced by teenagers who use wheelchairs. It does not rely on grand narrative; instead it lets small gestures, group dynamics and young voices speak. Selected for the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Te Manawa contributes to our programme by celebrating ability, shared experience and the simple power of being seen and heard in a school community.
