About this Short Film
Khumbo Langa (Medson Kamwendo, Malawi, 2020) is a thoughtful short that looks at themes of physical disability, work and money through a personal lens. The film considers the effects of a dislocated hip on everyday life, and raises questions about employment, farming and the economics of vegetable growing for a young adult navigating change. Shot with care, it offers moments that are quietly powerful without overstating the situation. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Khumbo Langa contributes to our programme by highlighting the practical challenges and strengths people with disability bring to their communities and livelihoods.
