The King's Award (Redlynch State College, Australia, 2023) is a short film that highlights themes of group inclusion and the everyday strengths of teenagers with intellectual disability. It presents young people navigating friendship and recognition, and offers a sensitive portrayal that fits well within Focus on Ability. The film celebrates agency and community, showing how shared moments and supportive peers matter. Suitable for audiences interested in school life, youth perspectives and disability inclusion, The King's Award contributes to conversations about belonging and capability without simplifying its subjects. A thoughtful addition to this year’s festival programme.
