About this Short Film
A Telephone Operator, by students at Marsden High School, is a 2025 short film included in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival. Rather than prescribing a single story, the film examines themes of communication, perception and group life while reflecting on isolation and mental health. It also raises difficult topics such as suicide and mental illness alongside questions of physical disability and access, including the experience of wheelchair users. Quiet and observant, the piece fits within our festival’s aim to highlight the abilities, experiences and achievements of people with disability. Expect a thoughtful student-made work that asks you to listen and look again.
