About this Short Film
David Twizerimana's Fight Against Ignorance (Rwanda, 2020) is part of our Focus on Ability program, which celebrates the abilities and achievements of people with disability. The film considers themes of acknowledgement, family ties, group belonging and isolation, and looks at how physical disability can be met with prejudice, stereotypes and stigma. It speaks to young adult experiences while inviting audiences to reflect on how communities respond to difference. We are pleased to include this work in the festival as a conversation starter, offering viewers a chance to recognise resilience and to rethink assumptions about disability in everyday life.
