E.R.I.C, from Warilla High School (Australia, 2022), examines inclusion, perception and mental health within a school context. The short uses a teen viewpoint to explore how groups form, what skills and values matter, and how young people see one another. It's a thoughtful, gentle piece that brings attention to everyday moments and the small choices that shape belonging. As part of the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, E.R.I.C contributes to our programme by highlighting youth perspectives on ability and community. The film invites audiences to reflect on empathy and support in schools without prescribing answers.
I got this feeling inside my bones, it goes electric wavy when I turn it on. Hello and welcome to our school. Excellence, respect, integrity and compassion are our school values through which we are taught. Excellence aims to achieve your personal best. Each day we arrive prepared and strive for success, setting high expectations for ourselves. And as we try to progress, we persevere with challenges, always trying our best, engaged in learning and giving 100% on every test. Respect, show respect to yourself and others. We follow instructions and value what each other has to say. Take care of our belongings and make sure to throw our rubbish away. We wear our uniform of pride as we are part of the team. Speaking politely to each other, there's no need to be mean. Integrity, be honest and trustworthy. We know the importance of integrity, such as telling the truth when faced with adversity. We take responsibility for our actions and try hard to learn whilst ignoring distractions. We use technology and social media with care, being mindful to think twice before we post or share. Compassion, care for the well-being of yourself and others. We practice being calm with a focused mind, supporting each other so no one is left behind. We enjoy engaging in activities in the community, learning important life skills at every opportunity. We're kind and courteous, accepting of each and everyone, caring for our peers, school and community whilst making sure there's room for some fun. Excellence, respect, integrity and compassion help us to learn and grow. Thank you for watching. We hope you have enjoyed the show. Visit our website for more information.
