About this Short Film
We Can (Yonatan Endrias, Ethiopia, 2022) explores perception and viewpoint around physical disability. Using images of crutches and group performance, it invites viewers to rethink assumptions about ability and presence. The film pays close attention to gesture, movement and the social space around young adults, while leaving room for each audience member to form their own interpretation. Set in Ethiopia, it adds an intimate perspective to our programme and prompts conversation rather than offering tidy answers. We are pleased to include We Can in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, where it sits among films that celebrate ability, agency and creativity.
