About this Short Film
Sound and Silence (Tatiana Paris, United States, 2020) examines how people make contact when familiar routes of communication break down. With themes of hearing and deafness, isolation, group dynamics and the strain of conflict, the film uses sound and the absence of sound to probe how adults negotiate connection in difficult times. We do not presume a single storyline; instead the film offers moments that highlight sensory experience and human resilience. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, it contributes to a programme that celebrates the skills, perspectives and creativity of people with disability, and invites audiences to consider new ways of listening and being alongside one another.
