About this Short Film
Berhan (Alemu Asmamaw, Ethiopia, 2021) is a thoughtful short that examines how children and teenagers perceive difference within a group. Through its focus on physical disability, prejudice, stigma and stereotypes, the film invites viewers to consider value and inclusion from multiple viewpoints. It does not prescribe answers, but offers a quiet space to reflect on how young people form opinions and the consequences those opinions have. Presented in the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, Berhan complements our programme by highlighting the everyday experiences and perspectives linked to disability, prompting conversation about belonging and respect in community life.
