Film Transcript
One day, while preparing coffee according to Ethiopian custom and practice, something new happened: the jebena (coffee pot) broke. It was something she had not expected. Deeply upset, she was left with the jena she loved.
On another day the worn‑out final piece finally came apart. Now, in despair, she gathered the remaining broken items and stowed them away haphazardly.
Then one day a sudden, powerful force struck; it tore the ruin apart, blew the house and its thatch away, and sent plaster and debris flying into the air. The ground was scattered. Desperately, she tried to retrieve the things that had been lifted into the air.
In the end, on the plaster floor under the patched shelter, she began again, trying to understand Jana and the coffee. She was broken — there was no service to mend from the stone.
